Fuel Powerplant question - Advanced construction

Hi,

Is there anybody who managed to build/figure out, how to build a self sufficient large scale power plant running on fuel ? There is no way to do it, am I correct ?

Some clariffications for my question:

- I dont mean fuel generators running on residue fuel as by-product of main plastic/rubber production [which is a good option to get rid off oil residue].

- Since the fuel generators no longer accept packaged fuel, pure fuel production will leave resin residue for which i have no use in remote power plant outpost and i dont want to use AWESOME sink for it.

get water and make rubber or plastic out of the resin

A) Put the resin in an AWESOME SINK. B) Turn it into rubber or plastic for use. C) Into storage container hell.

Although I do not wish to be rude to others, you are the only one who understood my question, but still only partially [my fault, should have better described my dilemma]

And I am already using option 1 you mentioned, so thats it.

I just wanted closed circle of production far away from my main base, just to produce power. And currently there is no way just doing it by oil, plastic, rubber, resin will always be a factor.

Imagine, if fuel generators accepted packaged fuel [with no need to recycle canisters]. You can have 4 refineries:

3 refineries for fuel directly to pipes to generators

1 refinery for fuel for packaging

From these 4 refineries the resin is exactly enough for plastic to package the 1 refinery for packaging fuel.

All above would feed 8 generators via pipes, and 3 generators with package fuel. Creating closed circle, no need for sink or transportation or use of resin anywhere else. Sadly this fantasy is not possible. So thats why i created this topic, if i perhaps missed something.

Thanks for your time anyway, its appreciated.

The free-running power plant you're asking about does not exist for fuel generators like it did in U2. That style of gameplay is only an option for coal generators now (and maybe nuclear but I'm not there yet). Fuel generators require an awesome sink and/or processing of byproducts. There is no way around it.

Edit: There is currently no way around it.

After no sleep [going to sleep now] and sadomasochistic joy of aluminium production setup, i resigned to use the sink :). (and since its now fixed, so multiple sinks collect points together into one global pool, i think they are designed this way as little help around)

This is totally doable, you flow pure oil in refineries to make fuel and resin, at this point if you don't want to put resin in AWESOME sink the other solutions are a large storage network to fill or a conveyor/train station/vehicle station that drives resin to another factory/part of the factory to use it for crafting.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the thing that makes it hard to balance is that fuel consumption at your generators is dependent on how much available energy is actually being used. This means that if you are producing 60 fuel per minute to keep 4 generators going, you're almost never actually using all 60 per minute. So eventually your refineries will back up and will stop making fuel, which means your by-product will not be produced either. So anything in your factory dependent on having a certain amount of resin per minute will be spotty at best. And inversely if resin backs up and you have too much by product in your refineries and they cant make more they can't produce Fuel, and your power supply can short.

I haven’t got to fuel yet, but could a solution be using an overflow system to have any unburnt fuel be packaged and sent to a awesome sink? That way fuel and byproducts are created continuously

Yes you can, but that adds balancing using plastic for fuel containers (it's like 30 plastic/min for 10 containers/min)and a high power requirement to the mix.

Heavy oil residue (alt) -> Turbo Heavy Fuel (alt) done! The byproduct from the heavy oil alt is solid so you can just sink it.
