If I resize an image how badly is the quality affected?
I resized an image from 2.2mb to about 500kb but, I don’t know if the photo would still be clear enough

If you resize it, it's like taking a 8x10 and turning it into a 4x6. Sure you lose clarity. It's smaller.
But if you use a higher jpeg compression, the image can stay the same size and just lose a little detail...virtually unnoticeable.
Cheers
Depends entirely on how you did it and what the image was of.
There are compression algorithms that will squeeze a 2.2MB bitmap image of a checkerboard into a 500kB file with absolutely zero loss, and there are images that flat out can't be compressed without losing information.
Was a photo of me that I needed to send through a website. It automatically resized because it had to be less than 1mb so maybe it’s sorted
