Weekly Champ Matchups: Ornn

Just something I don't think people do, mid/late game use your ult at the START of the fight (Perfect if u can dodge E or last tick of W as well), dont wait for him to ult so u can show ur sick mechanics to dodge his ult with your own. The %hp dmg from your ult melts Ornn.

Waiting for others to reply. I just have one thing to tell : until a patch arrives, perma ban that shit for now.

Edit : you can make him unable to hit back his ult by stunning him, or you can avoid it with your own R.

I find it pretty easy to outplay and outtrade ornn when the player is not a one trick.

Dodge Qs that he is poking with, don't stay near the Q to not let him proc E. When he uses W wait till the stack is gone and engage on him, you can use his Q to hook to.

I tend to dodge his second part of ult with my R, it is also good to R him when he uses E either to not let him get away or not get knocked up.

For runes I go conqueror, but that's because I'm used to it and like it a lot. I max E into Q because E cd is pretty important. I engage him every time his W is on cd and my shield is up. Be careful though, after sunfire he is much stronger and can 1v1 you.

I tend to get few good trades as early as possible, playing aggressive but having his W in mind. I cancel his shopping with W or force him to lose some Cs when he does shop. The match-up should be easy after getting early lead and maybe solo killing him once or twice. Be careful though, even when he is far behind if he hits W on you he can win with you.

For items I go for sheen asap if I'm ahead, phage next or first if I need some more survivability. Early tiamat is good too, to match his push, but I tend to prefer some more damage for solo kills.

For win condition after I get early lead I like to either bully him (but he is ornn, he will be useful anyway) and get fed and win midgame, or push and roam to help jungle or mid.

If they're good, it's a tough matchup.

Hyper aggro can win early, otherwise play for 16.

well i’m mostly here to see what high elo players do but ill share my 2 cents. i feel like a lot of the laning phase is determined by how good the ornn player is, so if i’m against a relatively bad ornn who doesn’t respect my E or cooldowns i just usually Q1 a minion then E onto his pillar then Q2-W and walk away before brittle and do that several times to chunk him before he can get a lot of items and if he starts playing safe while hes low ill try to either freeze or slow push the wave and get a “cheater recall” depending on how i handled it. when it’s just a good ornn who can play laning phase properly i just get tiamat and roam around the map or look for a tp bot. i like putting 3 points into E since the lower cd helps and for roaming too although i feel like maxing Q would be better since hes a tank so i’m not sure whats the best here. conq is the best keystone im assuming here since you won’t benefit from another one as much since hes just going to give 4k gold to his team and youd need something that scales well. im not sure what you mean exactly by win condition so ill leave that. in terms of cool interactions, you can E his pillar or ult anything he does which i usually save ult for dodging the ram but wolfus i think? said that the magic damage % damage is good for smacking him so i might start doing that in later stages of the game. overall ornn is not a problem in the lane imo at all.

Personally I like to max Q first. Rush a Hydra with completing the Tiamat component late or depending on how the lane is going. I freeze near my tower and short trade when he uses his abilities to break my freeze. Even if you lose the trade, you can heal back up and leaves him in an awkward spot. This is in mid Plat in OCE, so I'm not sure if higher elos will punish this, but I haven't had an Ornn who punishes me for it yet.
