Purchasing and delivery experience (so far)

Positive Review

So I've been working on deciding what to replace my 2005 Saturn with (they don't make parts for the old girl anymore), and figured I'd give Carvana a shot since I absolutely hate dealerships and having to deal with the whole sales pitch. I had rented a Malibu back in 2018 and liked the comfort level for my size and figured I'd take that route. There's hundreds of normal gas models every day, but the Malibu Hybrids have been few and far between (every time one got listed it'd almost immediately get flagged as in process!). Two weeks ago I see a coming soon that hadn't been reserved yet and pounced on it.

The $100 reservation was easy, although finding out that it was a temporary reservation to get first crack was slightly disconcerting. Apparently if Carvana's center processing and photographing the car took longer than a week or 10 days, my $100 would be released as would my reservation. Luckily that didn't happen and I got the link to the photos on Friday the 21st. It was what I hoped for, and I immediately started purchasing it. About 5 minutes into the process (which was like 30 minutes after I got the link) , I got a call from a Carvana advocate to tell me that it was ready for viewing, and I told him I was already in the purchasing screens and was good to go.

The process for setting up the purchase was ezpz. The rate I got was better than what financing elsewhere was offering, uploading all of my documentation and my trade-in information was a breeze, and reading through and signing the contracts online was simple. I got a call from the underwriter on Monday telling me that they'd processed everything and we were good to go... and that delivery is scheduled for Thursday (today) at 5 PM. Which is where things have gone sideways.

This morning I get a call from the delivery advocate saying that they can't find my car, it wasn't on the truck where it was supposed to be, and they'll send me an update once they have one. Then I get a call from the service advocate (and voicemail, since I'm at work) saying that there's been a delivery exception and I have to change my scheduled delivery to the 1st of March (Sunday) at 1PM. Fun fact, when they change your delivery date on you you have to go back into the order placed dashboard and re-sign the contract since they update it for the delivery date.

I'll update whenever I actually get delivery; I'm bummed rn because I've now got a car added to my insurance policy that I don't actually have for the next 3 days... aside from having to cancel my plans for Sunday because Carvana "didn't have the car where it was supposed to be".

For me, the insurance thing was easy, I just re-did my quote online and set it for my delivery date. Sorry you have to wait until Sunday, I know it's disappointing! Hang in there and congrats on your purchase :)

We are in the same situation. My first delivery date was Tuesday, change to today (Thursday) and now Sunday at 1pm. Carvana is compensating me $25 A-day so maybe you want to call in the in the asked them to compensate you from the first delivery.

Just make sure you have a mechanic check over the car within the seven days and make sure everything inside works as their "150" point inspection is lacking. Check your tires. Make sure they all are the same etc..
