Disclaimer: this was a shitpost that developed into a map and doesn't represent my personal views of Hungary. I basically assigned territory to the largest non-Hungarian plurality leaving only a rump state.

I'm just imagine the "God. I fucking hate Big Germany" becoming the Navy Seal Copypasta of imaginarymaps.

Kerankou•

Is that a copypasta?

Promant•

Almost like the real Treaty of Trianon wasn't harsh enough...

Tbf most lost regions weren't majority Hungarian. South Slovakia is bullshit and there's a case to be made for transylvania but what about the rest tho

I never heard any Hungarian being pissed about loosing Croatia. The lost territories to Austria is annoying because they was the ruling country of the Monarchy, but in practice nobody cares. With Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine and Serbia we have/had issues because important cities with Hungarian majority was given them. Of course the ethnic proportions had changed a lot in the last 100 years.

If you check the Second Vienna Award of 1940 Hungary got back the Hungarian majority territories. More or less everyone was in peace with that decision.

Even England admitted in 1927 that Hungary had a claim around the borders, and the subcontract of the Munich agreement in Vienna (1938) was signed by all main powers saying South Slovakia HAD a Hungarian majority (60%).

sgsgdark•

You mean areas with Hungarian majority in Serbia and Ukraine, or the other lost territories where the situation is either solved or was never in focus?

3
benivokhelo•

Why is south Slovakia bullshit? Hungarians are a majority there

2
Hodor_The_Great•

So losing it was bullshit

3
benivokhelo•

Oh i thought you meant that you think that hungarians dont live there lol

2

I smell a Romanian.

He’s Polish

Drawing the borders so millions of ethnic Hungarians were stranded outside of Hungary was harsh. I think a more fair treaty would have only stripped away non-Hungarian majority land.

I don't have a dog in this fight, this is just my view as a foreigner a century later.

That’s hilarious, they even have “sea access” on the Danube.

Win win?

A

2
PinguHUN•

I think hungarians would rebel immediately. This would be a constant war zone and full of gerilla fighiting.

9
roundedDownOP•

I mean, need I say it? Obviously. It’s a meme map

6
PinguHUN•

Yeah i knew i was just pointig out.

3
G-Litch•

Not likely , most of the Hungarian forces were disbanded and only warlords had some troops to hold a few areas. Even Horthy needed French and Romanian support to return and carry out the white terror

1
PinguHUN•

I mean when at Balasagyarmat the hungarian civils resisted the Checoslovaquian army.

4
FriendoftheGalaxy•

You just made Slovakia 50% Hungarian

4
Command_Unit•

I call it Hungoroslovakia or Slovakohungary

5
Brother_Judas•

Give it 10 years

2
abrissimon•

You should've expanded Romania to the Tisza river since those were real territorial ambitions of Romania

2
roundedDownOP•

My method was mostly just giving provinces to the largest non-Hungarian plurality, but that's cool to know

2
abrissimon•

Ah, so that's why Croatia's borders are so... ugly.

2
Grips_•

Yeah just a bit harsher

1
Xx_MadLadMarkan_xX•

Why do People always give Serbia all of the adriatic coast, and all of Bosnia. In history all of that was a part of Croatian kingdom but still people do this, it's kind of annoying, it was always Croatia and even in the past it was Croatia or Venice or Austria (Habsburg monarchy) it was never Serbian so why do people do that???

Yes i am Croatian and yes i am biased, and annoyed if it isn't obvious.

1
roundedDownOP•

Bosnia is partitioned between serbia and croatia, its not all Serbian. But there’s not a lot of thought behind that, and again, its a shitpost map

1
Xx_MadLadMarkan_xX•

Just to be clear no hard feelings it's okay but that's something that can trigger me sometimes to say the least i am honestly suprised that you put Slavonski Brod as a town there because i live there. But anyways cool map so if this sounded a bit to bitchy im sorry it wasn't supposed to be like that. And i didn't really see the borders clearly if im correct the grey ones are new.

1
roundedDownOP•

Yeah the red borders are just depicting pre trianon Hungary. And it's fine, it's just the whole map is deliberately cursed as fuck

2
[deleted]•

Yes, I'm sick to death about always online Hungarians whining "but muh mega carparthia, natural borders of Hungary" stfu and migrate back to Finland you nerds
