What is happening at milan?

Outsider. Curious to know what the situation is with maldini and boban is, since I've been seeing a lot of posts in this sub regarding the matter. If anyone could link me to a newspaper article explaining the situation that could also work

Gazidis and Elliot (ownership) want to bring Rangnick to Milan to replace both the manager and the sporting directors (Bobaldini).

Gazidis approached Rangnick without consulting Bobaldini.

Bobaldini mad. Boban gave a scathing interview to Gazzetta in reponse.

Boban fired (not official yet but he is as good as gone as far as anyone can tell).

Maldini likely to be canned in the summer although is apperently free to resign with dignity or whatever at any point.

TL/DR they gone.

Massara’s name hasn’t even come up once during this situation of Boban leaving and maybe Maldini, he really is just here because of the contacts in his phone. Gazidis and Elliot probably even forgot he works at Milan.

because massara is almost irrelevant, if Maldini came in a package deal with Boban, Massara is probably the same

Bobaldini. Pls NO!

Also pioli, despite doing a decent job after the disaster that was giampaolo, will also leave

So the dispute is arising from the fact that the said ownership want to replace pioli while the sporting directors don't think it's a good idea? That a good crux of the matter??

The dispute arose from the fact that gazidis went to contact rangnick without speaking to boban and maldini. Especially since a week earlier he gave this interview which made it seem he was part of a united front.

And why's there claims that the likes of Ibra and Donnarumma r leaving?

wait, but since rangnick is replacing "Bobaldini" why would they have to be consulted? Why are they being removed in the first place, i thought they were doing some good work and can't rangnick join as coach only??

The visions of Boban and Maldini and Elliott/Gazidis are clashing. Basically Gazidis is there to run a business and run it a very particular way which is different to the style Bobaldini who want to run a Team of athletes... Not just products for money.

Man that sucks, it feels like the rossoneri hv been victims to such ownership before too. Some chinese corp iirc, sucks for you guys . Maldini seemed to be bringing in talent and ofcourse his presence at the club itself was a pull factor

His presence is definitely something I think that helps us with some transfers. People look upto old players and if they can be around them to absorb their energy they will.

But.... success comes with successfully having a team of winning athletes.

Boban and Maldini are doing badly, their coachines choices have been bad and the team that Leonardo took to 5th last year is now doing badly. If our previous director Leonardo (now at PSG) got his wishes we would've sacked Gattuso and got a real coach, but Maldini prevented it. We could've got CL last year with a real coach. Elliot is finally realizing that Rookie directors/coaches arn't the solution and is going to bring in experienced and talented people.

Maldini and Boban were not doing a good job. Their first coach choice was a distater and ruined our progress from last year, they got Giampaolo who plays a 4312 formation and no players to support that. Our previous teams was set up to play with wingers. Pioli was also doing badly until Ibra came in.

Basically there is a conflict with Gazidis on one side and Boban/Maldini on the other side.

Now it seems Gazidis came out as a winner of this power struggle by signing Rangnick who will not only be coach but also sport director and thereby replace Boban/Maldini.

Milan fans are obviously very sad about this since Maldini is a milan legend and a reminder of a better time.

Maldini has also done a decent job. He and Boban didn't deserve to be sacked

After taking way to long to sign Giampaolo then being late at the Mercato they failed to sign every single player they wanted and leaving their coach to start the season unable to play his system even though they specifically signed him to play a new system.

They had a plan going into the season but that plan was bad and the execution was even worse.

I think it's difficult to argue they did a good job. But Maldini had a good eye on Theo and Bennacer. He could still be a great scout for us.

Giampaolo was a mistake for sure, but we still don't know how the thing could go if Maldini was permitted to sell Suso, buy Correa and some experienced players. As we know, Gazidis used his veto against some transfers. But also last 2 months were the best Milan period since Allegri. The team finally has its own face and plays decent football. Milan made some real progress, so really sad that soon it will be over

I guess Gazidis saying no simply means there is no money because of ffp. As a sportdirector you have to work with what money you have, that really is no excuse. Pretty sure if it wasn't Maldini but some random we would already have our pitchforks out. After the fuck up with Giampaolo and the whole mercato you don't get a second chance. That was just to big of a fail. I kinda feel bad for Maldini though, he should have started somewhere small and learn all the necessary lessons.

We always had periods were we looked good but they never lasted long. I don't see why it should be different this time.
