looking good. am doing similar Trog army but with addition of Skragrott just to give some magic pew pew. TROG TROG TROG TROG TROG. I might post mine so far as well :)
across all the Gloomspite gitz I have 10k points. My favorite is still bounders. im starting to think my ideal 2k list is Troggs with bounders for support but I've yet to test that i do usually take a fungoid or two for some fun teleporting Troggs and some itchy nuisance but thats more about having an extra 90 points or not. Full disclosure: I lose, A Lot. so maybe dont listen to me.
tx for that. i expect my list will be more fun than successful as well. lol. i have about 160 to play with and am resisting a meat shield on just thematic reasons. bounders really that good as a single unit?
yes. they hit very hard. have 2 wounds each, and do mortal wounds on the charge on a 4+ They can also be buffed to 90 attacks with one unit of sneeky snufflers at 70 more points. that's an average of 27 wounds if they charged and attacked first.
Absolutely glorious mate, bravo
Fantastic stuff.
What do you think of the Fellwater Trogs? Worth adding just for the variety? Or you have a good role for them on the table more Rockguts can't fill?
I wouldn't have bought them but my Reddit secret Santa sent me some. I have to say they are quite killy. a unit of 6 average 17 wounds over both shooting and fighting phase. vs Rockguts averaging 15 for the same. but that 5+ shrug is worth it so id say do both.
looks great! how many pts is this roughly? also, how much would it cost to build a similar troll force? I run skaven, so I am very inerested in an army with very few models on the table haha.
It is 1650 points and costs $594 retail. but save some $ and skip the giants. they are the worst unit ever with an average damage output of 3 per turn when everything else is at 12 min. also skip the second dankhold troggoth. Overcosted for what he does and grab more rockguts.
For the rockguts, how easy is it to customize them? Or do you start running into duplicates
There are enough parts to make a lot of unique Troggoths. IIRC, there are 9 pairs of arms, most of which can be mixed and matched, 3 necklaces, 3 necks, 3 pairs of legs, and 9 heads. It would take a lot of rockguts before you start getting doubles.
especially with those gargant extras and making four armed rockguts. troggherd is so much fun to build.
i had 9 before i had to use some giant bits to avoid dups
