Upgraded M141 to 16gb DD4, only 5.94gb usable

Got the Motile M141 in after Linus was singing about it. Ordered a Corsair ValueSelect DD4 2133mhz SoDimm and it installed fine.

Windows sees it a 16gb but only has 5.94gb usable.

I've tried the stock solutions like page files, ms config, and managed to it in a BSOD loop.
Same issue after factory reset.

Radeon shows the video memory is taking up 2gb

The Firmware doesn't have the options to set memory.

I'm on BIOS N.1.02 , EC 1.05.00, haven't tried flashing it yet.

Anyone seen this before? Any suggestions?

This might be crazy, but what if for a reason your Windows is x86?

It reads 64 bit in system but I'm getting another m2 drive on a few days, I'll slap a stock Win10 image on it and see if that does anything. (keeping the old stick the way it came)

32-bit address space only allows you to use 4gb combined between system and video RAM. If that were the issue, they wouldn't be seeing that much available

I'd upgrade the bios before I tried anything else

Just to make clearer, the current bios is 1.06

The 2mb of video memory is normal for this machine, at least until a new bios comes out (4gb memory defaults to less than 1gb for video. Any more defaults to 2gb). But I can't explain the rest

I'm using 16GB on 1.06 successfully (Vega IGP takes 2GB when you have more than I think 8). If going to that BIOS doesn't solve it, maybe just return the stick and try another, it should work but sometimes it's just a crapshoot especially for a niche product like this.

Yep. Got the same issue with Linux on stick distros Ill check with a local pc guy and see if we can't get a a stick it likes.

Mine was Crucial btw. Surprisingly the default 4GB stick was 2666MHz, but the laptop caps it at 2400, probably got some sort of deal for faster RAM than it uses, lol.

Crucial Ballistix 16gb ram works fine in it.

i also upgraded my ram to 16gb 2400 mhz with no issue, but i got this laptop for a specific reason and thats to use full on linux on it without having windows, but now it wont boot up automatically. i cant even find motile support or the updated bios drivers, smh.
