Premium Ships - Test Sail

Discussion

In War Thunder, you get the option to test fly/sail/drive premium items. So I've seen many posts from potential buyers trying to decide which ship to put their money on, so why not incorporate the same option into World of Warships: Legends?

You could then test sail any premium ship in a map, maybe on your own or against minimal AI ships, no time limit, have a play and get the feel of the ship which will help you decide, yep I'm buying this one etc.

Keen to hear everyone's thoughts and ideas for options, apologies in advance if this has already been discussed.

Good idea, but Wargaming are never going to implement it; as then you won't buy the pile of shite Premiums and just get the best ones.

Plus, whenever it comes to premiums now; I reckon most of the community take to YT and see what it's like first

No one can give you a most accurate answer than this, if not look at wotm or the pc versions, that have been running for years, it's a great suggestion, but a non profitable one for WG

I like that idea. There’s ships I like the look of but wouldn’t spend on without knowing what I’m getting.

Maybe don’t test in a vs Ai situation as it may not be representative of the more competitive play of ranked or standard matches.

Counter proposal, Take any premium for a 2 game test drive with all the possible unlocks so you can get a feel for it maxed out. But you don’t earn any exp, silver etc.

That's me with Mustu. The massive guns are pretty appealing, and I like the idea of torpedoes to punish people who get in my bubble. But I've also heard that it's a clunky bastard with poor armor. I might really like it, I might wish I could just have the 10k doubloons back. I don't know so it sits there in the store.

She’s so fun. Every few games you might get clapped with a citadel hit or two but mostly she’s fine survivability wise if you know what you’re doing in regards to angling. But she can really lay down the hurt with her 16” guns. And those 17 second torpedos!!! So awesome. I kind of play her like a cruiser using an island for additional cover as I lob absurdly large rounds on target. Then if/when DD’s come to silence me, I let loose with the 17 second fish. Great ship. She’s actually one of the few “niche” ships in the store I’d definitely recommend. Just know it’s not a main line BB you play every game. You could, but it can’t tank damage real well so you play it like a cruiser until you’re forced to brawl. Not an everydayer but still SUPER fun.

If you have a high level Takagi with a good level Cunningham inspiration then the Mutsu is amazing. I used the Arizona to grind most of Ranked til rank 4 and then Mutsu to reach rank 1.

When you learn their spread the Mutsu guns become sniper shots for huge damage. The torpedoes should not be something that you try to use but they're good when you find yourself needing them. For me personally the torpedoes become a hedgehog spike defence where I will be regularly firing them off when I know a destroy may be in that direction. You occasionally catch people off guard with them but it also makes people keep a distance.

It takes some getting used to the spread of the guns, you gotta fire at least 2 at a time to not miss. It isn't a great ship if you're not above average skill because you need to be working on your angles and positioning constantly.

Yep definitely good options 👍

Or better yet, since there's AI matches, you could play for zero xp and zero silver, but still have a small repair cost.

But WG will never implement something to reduce the chances of them swindling people for $40 when half of the stats like armor, gun dispersion, and fire chance reduction are hidden values. Surprise statistic mechanics.

The premium ships stats aren’t hidden just click on the ship in the store and you can view all the details.

Edit just re read your post. Your right can’t see them

By the downvotes you received on this post its clear some people dont want that thing to happen in WoWsLgends, what a shame such great idea but no one listens.

Good idea, it would really help to get a bit more of a feel for the ship you buy. It’s like buying a car, you want to take that thing for a test drive around the block before you really buy it!

There expensive to buy. It’s almost like a 10k dubloons gamble on a ship you may not like and therefore use.

Exactly!

100%. I own every premium except Charlemagne and some of them are straight turds. Would love this feature.

Perhaps you would be gracious enough to give a short summary and ranking. And some pertinent pros and cons. Thanks.

I will if people want me to, sure...but there are surely many of the same thing already archived. I know Turtleman has put out extensive guides as well as others. I’m not the only one to have them all or most of them too. I’ll will look into this and if there isn’t anything readily available via the search, I’ll supplement.

It's always great to see different opinions on ships!

I could really use this feature to help me decide which global xp ship I’ll unlock soon. It sounds like a great idea for the game, and the only thing is would wargaming do it?

  1. Not to be cynical, but wargaming is not known for their generosity, and they know people will buy them anyway.2) Mutsu can be a beast, but HE absolutely melts it!! Torps are at a weird angle and you have to be COMPLETELY broadside to use them, which means that if anyone is watching, you will get hammered. HARD!!! Aside from the torpedoes, it’s very similar to the other IJN ships in similar tiers. Accuracy can be an issue too. Big guns don’t help if you miss. If you run an accuracy build, it comes back to the HE melting the ship again. HE from a distance literally penetrates the deck like AP plunging fire. If you are a pretty good BB player, you will adapt, but there are better premiums to spend your $ on!!

A different opinion is always welcome. I know some people don’t care for the Dunkirque. I love it. My favorite ship. I don’t have any battleships that actually move faster than a tub of molasses other than the Dumb Turkey which does 29.5 knots, moves like a cruiser, and sets 14 fires a match. It has reinvigorated my love for this game.

I really like Dunkin Heinz too! Almost always do well with her, and it’s a $ maker too. Only issue I run into is losing your guns, but that’s an issue with all of the French line that have all their guns forward. Not sure about Nelson. Don’t have her yet. Also kind of forces you to go backwards a lot. I call it attacking to the rear!

That would be awesome but it’s WG

Pretty good idea I’d definitely give that a go to help decide. You never know might just buy most I test sail.

Would see this working if it’s against AI and no credits/commander xp etc to gain from it obviously, or against all AI opponents. I think it may be helpful to let you use your own commanders to see if you can find a build that makes our work for you
