Ridiculously excited for this new Hendrick's

Went to their release event at Harvey Nichols in London, and can confirm that it’s a good gin - Leslie Gracie might be batshit crazy but my god she can make gin.
I wasn’t a fan of Midsummer Solstice (it was a good gin, just not my thing) so was looking forward to tasting this - it’s subtle, and aromatic with a slight citrus note. Probably not as good as Orbium, but definitely better than the original and Midsummer. Now to try Amazonia!
If you're looking for that citrus note, I'd suggest looking at Nikka coffey gin.
Mind if I ask a bit more about it? Thinking of picking up a bottle for my fiancée soon.
I had read in a review somewhere it had a bit of a peppery profile, was that your experience?
I’d say there’s definitely an element of pepperiness in there - though its subtle (it’s noticeably not Bombay Sapphire for example) and on the finish.
It’s a good gin - and the fact it’s limited release and Hendricks lends itself to being a good gift. I think it’s interesting enough to intrigue gin lovers (who might otherwise baulk at fancy special edition gins) while also keep that crowd of ‘new’ gin drinkers who aren’t big on juniper profiles.
Super helpful, thanks!
What was Orbium like? I really, really liked Midsummer but it wasn't particularly gin-y" for me. Amazonia looks intriguing!
It's undoubtedly Hendricks - still big floral notes on the nose. But the taste is something else. If you don't like tonic water, you won't like this gin. I personally find the added wormwood is the dominant bitter note - despite the gin being quinninated. There's some very subtle citrus sweetness, but it's only noticeable before the wormwood and quinine. It's sort of like eating a cooking apple - a green, dry bitterness.
It's great in a G&T, pairs like magic with vermouth for some of the best martini's you'll taste, and if a negroni wasn't bitter enough for you already, try adding some Orbium to blow your socks off.
As for the Amazonia, I'm not really sure what to expect. I picked up a bottle at duty free the other day, and nobody seemed to know any tasting notes - and Hendricks don't seem to have published any, beyond 'inspired by the rainforest'. I suppose I'll just have to crack the bottle open!
Thank you! I'll await your review... The rainforest is rather diverse, botanically speaking, so who knows what you'll find...
Not sure there could be a more perfect gin https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/53498/hendricks-lunar-gin
I was pretty excited to try this lineup until I saw what they want people to pay for it. As Ralfy would say "marketing flannel". Too bad, it sounds like it's great gin.
😪😭😢
I'm going to have to keep an eye out for this!
Oooooooooo I can't wait for this to come to the US!!
ETA?
I haven't been able to find an official date, but I'm still looking into it! It was released in the UK in February.
There is speculation that it is limited release to UK only. I hope that it comes State side too.
That would make me so sad. When I talked to the Total Wine guys, they hadn't heard anything.
