Kinetic scrolling is no longer working, though it was last release.

YouTube playback speed is broken, though it used to work (like a year ago or something).

There is no way, since they switched to only json filter lists, to add lists like annoyances blocklists and anti-adblock blocklists. Aside from the default filter list, good luck adding anything else.

I'm glad there are privacy and security enhancements coming through, but can we stop breaking features that used to work, and then letting them go unfixed for months or years?

In theory any ablock list can be automatically converted to this format.

The existing adblock absolutely did not work properly, it was extremely bad on resource usage, as-in like doubling the memory usage of the entire application.

As for the other bugs, please report them on the webkit bug tracker.

I've tried the tools out there -- one mentioned in a bug report on the new adblock filters -- but they don't work on any adblock lists I've tried. Those "bugs" would be considered bugs of the conversion tools, so webkitgtk folks wouldn't be expected to fix them, though it's unfortunate they apparently rely on them after this change if users are to use alternative or additional filter lists.

As for the other bugs, please report them on the webkit bug tracker.

Kinetic scrolling has been reported (a day or two ago), as has the YouTube playback speed issue (months and months ago).

I'm willing to bisect issues if I can reproduce them on my desktop. Otherwise, the best way to make progress is for another brave soul to make the attempt. Compiling WebKit is a great way to stay warm during cold winter months; your laptop should heat up nicely for hours on end!

Honestly I don't fully understand what kinetic scrolling is, but I assume that requires a touchpad or touchscreen to reproduce, yes?

For YouTube playback speed, a link to the bug report would be great. But I can see that it always plays at 1x speed currently, no matter what the setting is set to. I also see that YouTube comments are broken (load forever).

Here is a bug report for the recent kinetic scrolling breakage.

Kinetic scrolling is, yes, basically a touchpad or touch display behavior, where "flicking" the content causes it to continue to scroll with momentum (as if the content is using up its kinetic energy) after the fingers are removed from the touch device. The way content on smartphones continues to scroll when flicked.

Apparently it was "fixed" in 2.25.3 released back in July 2019 (see here), and it certainly has worked for a while, but recently it broke again (current release is 2.28.0).

The bug regarding YouTube playback speed is filed here -- filed August 2018 and acknowledged as a regression back then.
