Has anyone else here been diagnosed with portal vein thrombosis? Going on 3 months since my initial diagnosis and it has been nothing short of a rough ride so far!
I have been on Eliquis since December 2019. Unfortunately, on February 7th I was admitted to the hospital after it was found that even after 2 months on Eliquis there was no change in the blood clot in the left portal vein. Further, I was also diagnosed with infarction of the liver and intussusception of the small bowel. They cannot do surgery, as 3 general surgeons have reviewed my case, and they all declined to do surgery, deeming it too high risk. I have been referred to The University of Alabama-Birmingham to see if there is any options there.
I have lost 20+ pounds since this has all happened. Intractable abdominal pain and my LFT's are persistently elevated.
Does anyone have a good ending to their portal vein thrombosis story???
