When they dragged me to a horror movie and then made light of the fact that it scared me

The movie in question is a Tamil move by the name of “Anniyan”. I was maybe 10-12 when it was out. And I had no idea what it was about when my parents and grandparents took me to go see it. I was here like “oh well more movie theater popcorn for me.”

Y’all. There was so much death. And it showed gruesome killings. I was SHOOK. At 10-12, that is NOT the kind of movie I should be watching. Yet at 15, my JNparents wanted to scream at me about watching South Park. And now, at twenty fucking five, my JNmom is uncomfortable with me watching 13 Reasons Why. Yet overlooks the fact that she dragged me to see that fucking movie when I was a ten year old child.

So then we went out to dinner after the movie and I was sobbing the whole damn time. And of course, the justnos accuse me of being a drama queen. I listed off every death in the movie and how painful it was to watch that and my JNmom proceeded to brush me off with “oh please, you know they were actors and that was allll makeup.”

I then proceed to say that I don’t want to talk about or be reminded of that fucking movie. JNfather immediately tries to make fun of me by saying “lol okay we’ll get rid of all the onions in the house.”

Fast forward now, almost 15 years later. Someone on my fb friends shared a post that said “what movie traumatized the shit out of you?” And of course I answered with Anniyan. I guess JNmom saw it since it was a public post I commented on and she now tells everyone it’s “cute” that that fucking movie traumatized me.

Her real game though? She thinks I’m all scared of that movie because it’s not an English film and that I think that all Indian movies are beneath me. Bruh. I literally cannot speak the language. I cannot enjoy Hindi or Tamil movies without subtitles. Also I WAS TEN. I HAD NO BUSINESS WATCHING A MOVIE LIKE THAT. I STILL CRY WHEN DOGS DIE IN MOVIES. I CAN’T EVEN READ REDDIT POSTS ABOUT ANIMALS DYING.
