Improvements to the Sync Orb system

Discussion

After playing the game for some time, I couldn’t help but notice just how grindy the Sync Orb grids are. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for Sync Orbs and Sync Grids as they give a lot of Pokemon more depth to their battling style. For example, Flannery and Torkoal went from being extremely niche to rather excellent with its Sync Grid vastly improving their battling capabilities.

However, I feel there are several flaws that I wish could be remedied in future games:

  1. Co-Op Sync Orbs - to put it bluntly, they are simply outclassed by regular Sync Orbs. They are significantly less valuable than regular Sync Orbs (essentially only a tenth of the value) and require far more time to farm despite the increased speed of Co-Op battles. Not only that, but you also have less control over obtaining them.

  2. Sync Orb chance system - at the moment, Sync Orb chances are arranged so that when the day restarts, the probability of getting a sync orb is high, then returns to a lower probability that gradually increases, and repeats. Generally, this discourages Sync Orb farming as it takes a high level of playing to obtain a moderate amount of Sync Orbs, meaning not as many players will be committed to investing in Sync Grids, let alone maxing them out.

  3. Getting a different sync pair’s sync orbs - there have been more times than I can count where I accidentally used a Sync Move of a Sync Pair that I didn’t want to obtain the Sync Orb. Furthermore, there are some Sync Grids that I regret investing in.

  4. Losing a Sync Orb chance - usually, at least in single player mode, if you forgot to use a Sync Move, lost the battle, or accidentally left, you won’t get your Sync Orb chance back in the next battle and may have to try several more times to get it back.

As you can see, obtaining Sync Orbs is challenging, to say the least. I suggest a few fixes to the above issues:

  1. Make Co-Op Sync Orbs more valuable. Increasing their value to that of regular Sync Orbs or even greater would incentivize players to play Co-Op more as opposed to grinding in single player mode, which isn’t that fun.

  2. Revert the Sync Orb chance back to the original random chance where each battle had a constant probability of obtaining a Sync Orb. If the chance was even something like 10 percent, the chances of obtaining a Sync Orb are pretty high consistently. For example, the chances of you obtaining at least one Sync Orb in 20 battles with a 10 percent chance each is 88 percent.

  3. Allow us to exchange Sync Orbs between Sync Pairs. This would make sure no one has to deal with excess Sync Orbs or the burden of spreading the investment too thin.

  4. If a previous battle had a Sync Orb chance and you didn’t get a Sync Orb, the next battle should guarantee the Sync Orb chance.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to get that off my chest. If you have any thoughts or comments about this topic, please share them below.

TL;DR, Co-Op Sync Orbs need to be more worth it, change Sync Orb chance to be more random, allow exchange of Sync Orbs between Sync Pairs, and ensure the player gets the Sync Orb.
