Why was a backup of RS2012 not made?

Just food for thought. Incase you were living in a titanium reinforced man cave these past 8 years, you’d know Jagex released the Evolution of Combat update. I think they may have misspelled ”devolution” but that is besides the point. Currently, Jagex claims they do not have a client back up of Runescape 2012 (arguably when times were brighter for Runescape). I question the validity of this, and if this is indeed the case, I question the sobriety of Jagex developers when deciding “Make a back up of this huge game before putting a HUGE CHANGE in combat mechanics in it? NAH!”. Think about it, what if it utterly fucked up the engine of your game? Where is the back up you would have used to undo that? If you really don’t have one, that’s pretty fucking appalling and pathetic. Sorry for the negativity, but these words have fermented for 8 years and it’s about time they have come out.
