Weapon retirement is only good if new weapons are being added

This season added little to be desired in terms of new weapons (and overall) yet bungie is insistent on retiring weapons after 9 or so months. What's the point of this if there's nothing new to go for? People will not be happy when they have to go grind out a new spare rations because their old one is no longer viable. The only way weapon retirement will work is if new weapons and perks are added, giving people something new to go for.
