Doing my first brass breech mod, wondering if this design will work
I'm looking to make a single round brass breech short dart sharpfire, I love the small profile of the blaster itself so I'm trying to find a way to do it without using the barrel extension. Most of the time I see people brass sharpfires they use 17/32 attached to the bolt and use 9/16 for the sheath that's attached to the blaster, but doing it like this on a sharpfire (as opposed to a knockout or something) moves the dart forward which needs the extra brass at the end.
I don't think I've seen a brass breech design that has the air go directly into 9/16 and then funnel into nested 17/32, would that still have a proper seal? I feel like it might not be as much power since the air is going into the wider tube of the nesting rather than the inner tube which gives it a straight shot against the brass seal.
If it'll make a difference, I supposed I could add a little spacer of 17/32 to the back of the bolt's 9/16 so there's an epoxied seal, but that'll require a lot more precision and measuring and probably be a lot harder to pull off as a first attempt. Can anyone who's done a lot of brass breeches and has a good idea of how the seals and airflow works let me know if this design should work, and if adding the positioned spacer will make enough of a difference to be worth the effort?
Thanks in advance!
