Navy flight attrite....trying to swing my way back into aviation
So the title says it all. but to further elaborate... I’m attempting to get into Air Force upt.
my shortcoming was my arrogance. I got selected for navy flight school. Passed ifs no problem, passed api with some hiccups. Then after graduation, my CO sat me down and told me I cannot continue.even though I passed, my grades were low during a supposed time of force reduction and I was dropped. I never thought This would happen to me, even though looking back, I don’t know how it couldn’t have. I didn’t have the right attitude. After a pretty successful college and enlisted experience, I didn’t think I was capable of failure and assumed I will be fine. Saying this attrition was a humbling experience is a huge understatement. military Flight has been my dream ever since I became certain of my career. so many people never get their shot at this, and so many more get their shot revoked for reasons out of their control. I messed mine up with my own two hands.
i am fighting with everything in me to get another shot Through the Air Force. I’m almost done with my ppl, have very strong LORs, and have been studying harder than I anything I’ve ever studied for, for the afoqt. There’s an Air Force instruction that states I am ineligible if I have been disenrolled from a commissioning program. if I have been, I will need to submit a dd785 stating the conditions of my attrition.
It’s an uphill battle, if not an impossible one. What thoughts do you guys have. What would you tell an applicant like me if you were on the board? What can I do to better my odds? And what advice do you have for my career?
i want to be a pilot. But I’d be ecstatic with any rated position
