Hey r/LSAT, I need your help in deciding my LSAT study approach.
Hello everyone, I want to be as forward as I can in this post. I'm approaching the time period in which I need to start making decisions about how I choose to go about studying for the LSAT, and I'm looking for some advice from this community.
About me
I am currently in my second semester of my Junior year of college. I am a journalism major, and I am 100% sure that I do not want a career as a journalist. I do not have the time to change my major.
My current plan
So my current plan is simple. I take off this summer to do nothing but study for the LSAT. I treat my studies like a full time job/internship, 6-8 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. I will return home to cut myself on from distractions (I go to school in Southern California and theres quite a bit to distract me here lol), and save some money as I can live from home.
My concerns.
This is where I need your advice reddit. This plan above prioritizes success on the LSAT, and it does not prioritize work/internship experience. I'm afraid my law school application will be weakened by it's lack work/internship experience, so I'm not sure if I would be better off by interning this summer then using my first year out of college to study or not.
Other Information
I am heavily involved on campus as a student leader. I hold two different elected positions on campus, and I sit on a couple university boards. I think this will help boost my application, but I'm not sure to what extent, if at all. My GPA is solid (3.6) and I by my estimates it should be around a 3.7-3.8 by the time I graduate.
Additionally, time is of the essence for me. I do not want to spend too much time out of college without a set professional direction. I would like to submit early applications during the Fall of my senior year, and know where I've been accepted by the following Spring. I would consider deferring a year after I've been accepted, but thats something I can think about in the future.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE :)
