My games won’t install on my external storage

My external storage suddenly stopped installing games every time my games would get up to at least 16KB then I would get a notification telling me installation stopped then another notification telling me my external storage is ready this is never happened before as I had always installed games on this hard drive it has at least 400 GB left and I tried everything I can think of resetting my Xbox, remove the hard drive than place it back in, turning off and on my Xbox and nothing has changed help would be appreciated
