Can someone explain.

I was playing Veteran, I alerted N4 and it said I shot someone who visited, but it did not come up in the kill feed. I was playing coven all any, I've been playing for some time now but still dont know some hidden mechanics. Can someone explained what may have happened, as to why no one died the following day. Thank you!
