Hello, im unsure and terrified of the possibility of surgery

Hello, im a 22 year old male, i was diagnosed with chiari type 1 at 16, i was recently was in a accident that drastically increased my symptoms, non stop headaches, trembling of my hands, blurred vision, ears ringing and the non ending nausea. My doctor brung up the idea of decompression surgery he wants so new imagery done before hand, has anyone else been in this scenario, was it worth it to get it, down sides and benefits, also has an accident emotional scard you like mine did i can't pull out my drive without being overwhelmed by anxiety
