Is it safe to install generic Intel GPU drivers?

Open

I bought my laptop in Aug 2018 - ASUS vivobook S510UA. It has Intel i5-8250U with UHD 620 graphics on it. Today I tried user benchmark and the GPU performance is terrible - 2 percentile. So I thought it may be a driver issue, so I went to Intel website to check driver update but it says this about the graphics driver - A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver & Support Assistant is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact ASUS or ASUSTek for the latest driver for your computer. Driver version in the system is 24.20.100.6282, while latest driver version is 26.20.100.7870. ASUS website still has no update. Is it safe to go ahead and install the generic driver from Intel website directly?
