Coronavirus: I want what is best for the league/players/fans so health first but the Islanders...
… I think are about 2 weeks away from dropping from the 18th spot in the draft to top 10. Let's take a closer look at to why:
-
the next twelve days sees the Islanders play 6 road games vs two home games.
-
8 games in 12 days is considered a heavy schedule and fatigue can play a factor.
-
The Isles are an excellent 20-9-6 at home and a mediocre 15-14-4 on the road.
-
They are 1-9 (not including OT) in their last 10 away games.
-
The next 8 games reflect the following teams: Calgary (Twice), Edmonton, Pittsburg, Toronto, New Jersey, Carolina and Philadelphia, with the exception of New Jersey all likely playoff bound teams
Who knows? Perhaps they will work themselves out of the current funk but if one ignores their crazy streak at the beginning of the year, they would be a bottom feeding team
I predict the season will probably be put in a holding pattern tomorrow. But if it doesn't and they make a decision to keep playing, I truly believe in the next 12 days, their position will drop likely to #10 spot (Arizona's current spot) which would give the Sens (if Isles don't win the draft lottery) another excellent pick, if that position held the rest of the way.
This is not something I wish, I feel for Pageau especially but hey, if it's good for the Sens it's a good thing period.
All the best to those affected. I know most cases people will think "hey it's the flu", but don' think of those people, think of those that may catch it with poor health or the elderly. This is going to be a sad time for quite a few out there :(
