What's the best way to learn more vocabulary and actually master them?

I don't even know what level I am. I know like some of the essential grammatical features of Korean, but my problem is with the vocabulary. I have to use a dictionary everytime (unless I already know the word). I have only been studying for a few months so maybe that's why I barely know any vocabulary. Do you guys have any tips though on how I can learn more vocabulary so I don't have to keep using dictionaries?
