Kava kava for kratom withdrawal?

I’ve been tapering. Stopped the powder. My boyfriend suggested it. He’s about two years a little more sober. Was an alcoholic. Anyhow he suggested that and phenibut for anxiety but quitting it after I get through the withdrawal. Getting paid tomorrow need to buy things to prepare. What do you guys think about kava?
