401k allocations in midst of corona virus
I don’t have a 401k with my current employer but recently opened a SEP IRA as an independent contractor and can contribute 25% of my salary (35k) into it a year for retirement. I am behind on my contributions, 23k at age 31, so I will put in as much in as possible to get on track. My question is when I put money into my IRA should I wait for the market to stabilize to allocate my assets? My plan is to to the Boglehead approach with 3 fund simplicity, 80/20 stock to bonds. 65/35 U.S. to international stocks. Choosing index stocks with low expense ratios. I’m also very new to investing and want to put some extra money in the market. I will have 80k in savings after sep Ira contributions. Obviously now is not the time to buy stocks. Should I try to catch the market on the upswing when the time comes?
