Massively improved "heat creep" issue and want to share it.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i thought it would be appreciated.

Still really new to printing but not new to trouble shooting stubborn machines.

I noticed my extruder head getting jammed pretty early on in the print (first 5 min or so). After hours of googling, adjusting settings, taking apart the extruder assembly a dozen or so times, and YouTube-ing, I figured out the main issue was what is know as heat creep. I was in the middle of looking of where to buy insulation and how to apply it to the head. At that point I realized what the heatsink was for. I figured maybe it wasn't working as effectively as it should be.

I added thermal paste between the heatsink and the block and (taking the advice of a video I saw) adjusted the retract settings to 10mm retract and 10mm speed. I'm not sure what did it or if this is even a fix at all, but 1 and a half hours later and it's still going strong.

Hopefully this can help someone else out there.
