Title error: Actually was a Black Monday and Tuesday in 1929. Black Monday in 1987. Stockmarkets don't appear to have had a Black Friday. Black Thurday 24 October 1929 was when the stock market fell massively intraday then recovered all losses to finish the day only down ~2%, thanks to intervention/confidence restoration by some billionaire announcing a massive buy order in the middle of the trading day.
