Distributism and Ethics

Throughout this subreddit, as well as Distributist circles in general, there appears to be two major yet opposing interpretations of Distributism in relation to social policy. The first being that Distributism is merely an economic system and is thus not tied to any moral or social framework. The second being that Distributism is ultimately a moral way of running an economy thus it’s economics is inherently tied with its ethics. I have stated before that I think we should set our moral and social differences aside for now for the sake of creating a Distributist economy but I would like to know what everyone else thinks about this.
