I'm moving to San Mateo next weekend. A few questions about the bay area inside.

Where are some cool places to check out on the weekends? Where can I learn about more meetups that are in the bay area? What are some things I must see or do?

Being new to the area I would like to get out and meet some people. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
