make cells change to red when the date inside is reached, or passed

unsolved

I'm working on Excel 2003. I am trying to make cells change to red when the date inside is reached, or passed. I am using =(A1+90) to formulate the date in the cell. Is it possible to do this? How?

2003?! That version is old enough to drink!

That aside, you can used Conditional Formatting to do this. I am not sure how it looks in ye olde Excel but a rule like =A1>=TODAY() should work.

Yeah, cheap company computer systems. Is there a better way to format the dates in column C to show 90 days out in column E?

No, the +90 is the easiest way to go. And a CF rule to format.

You could also do the whole thing in one conditional formatting formula:

=C1+90<TODAY()

in conditional formatting you need to create rules based on the formula. Change all settings are you wish to, and as formula use following:

=A1<=Today()

2 items to consider:

  1. by default it will suggest $A$1, so you need to delete $ signes.
  2. A1 - is top left cell of the range you would like to color. I would suggest, you are creating rule in one cell and then copy formatting.
