This starter is about a week old and was bubbly and beautiful the last few days. During feeding I noticed some small orange/brown specs in it. I’ve only used all purpose to feed it, so it’s not from there. The smell isn’t bad and is like a nice malty drink. Do I have a bacteria invasion on my hands?

I know the specs are hard to see. They’re very small.

The specs just look like bubbles under the surface. Maybe try taking a toothpick to see if you can pick up a spec, or if it disappears because it was a bubble?

I was able to pick them up with the toothpick. I remembered I had a jeweler’s loop and was able to get a better pic with it. https://imgur.com/gallery/jgW3gdE

Although maybe I’m best off waiting to see how everything develops tomorrow and go from there.

I would wait. If you take a close look at your flour, you'll probably see there are little brown specks in it. It's possible that's what you're seeing-they'll swell a little when hydrated like the rest of flour.
