Family members who push children to go out and make friends, get a spouse, start a business, and have a family are selfish

Title says everything. I sometimes noticed that many families will push their children to go out and do what they want with little to no care what the kid wants. Honestly, it’s really selfish to push a child to live the dream of a parent instead of there own dream.

Now if the parent is pushing for there child to do something good like maybe eat healthier or go out and explore job opportunities, that’s fine. But if a parent is telling a kid “you’re going to be a doctor and have a family”, it’s really selfish and cruel to the child.

It’s even worst when a parent tries to justify their actions using religion. “Well god wants you...” or “well, in the holy script it says...”. Now, if the kid choose to follow that path and believe in that way, that’s good on them. But the parents shouldn’t threaten them with religion to do as they want, it’s kinda manipulative and creepy.

And if people say, “well this isn’t an unpopular opinion, everyone believes in that”. Where I am from I have seen quite a few examples of this and it has really messed up the child for the rest of their life. The child grows up to be a lawyer and hate it, have a spouse they don’t like, have kids they aren’t happy with, live in a big house they don’t want, you get the point.

A child should have a choice of what they want to do with their life and shouldn’t have people demanding them do something just because they have too.
