Switching to a 2 year program from a 3 year program

Hi everyone!

Is it possible to switch to a 2 year technician program from a 3 year technology program without any issues?

I'm currently in the Software Engineering Technology Program but I'm no longer interested in completing this path and I'd rather graduate early and begin working.

To clarify, the Software Engineering Technician program is the exact same for the first two years as the Software Engineering Technology program.

Has anyone done this in the past?

Thank you for your help,

Do you already have a job lined up for when you graduate? If you don’t, I’d recommend against graduating early. It’s a very volatile market now with this virus.

yeah, luckily I have something lined up already. Even with the current situation it doesn't make sense to come back for an extra year of costs.

yeah you should be good to switch, if you talk to your program head you'll be able to switch if you're grades are good and you won't have to reapply through Ontario colleges

I should have clarified, I'm currently in 2nd year so I've met all the requirements to make it this far. I guess that shouldn't change, I will make sure to talk to the program advisor, thank you!

Can't speak for software specifically, but people have dropped to technician in other engineering technology programs usually after failing a heavy math course like calculus.

Shouldn't be an issue, talk to your program coordinator. You usually just have to fill out a form.
