Mod Creation Help - Increased Global Starbase Influence Cost
Hi,
I was inspired by a post here were someone talked about dramatically increasing the influence costs of new starbases to make the galaxy more empty.
So, I started poking around and found: country_starbase_influence_cost_mult
The idea for the design is that you have a slider on the galaxy generation screen like habital worlds or primatives. Depending on how you set it say, +300%, then the global starbase cost is multiplied by 3.
I was looking in the various setup scenarios (i.e. huge, medium, etc). I figured I'd have to put the modifier in the file with a base multiplier of 1.0, but it can't be that easy. Seems like I'd make a new modifier like country_starbase_influence_mod that is added to the forumula for calculating the influence cost. I expect there's a base formula somewhere.
Am I on the right track, though? What other files would I have to touch?

I'm not sure attempting to add sliders to the galaxy generation menu would be the easiest way to do it; you could instead have an event run on game start that gives you the option of various influence cost multipliers (10%, 25%, 50%, 100%, 200%, etc.) and upon choosing an option, that influence multiplier is applied to all countries. For that, all you would need to touch are static_modifiers, events, localization, and on_actions, and it could be done rather quickly.
An example of a modifier doing what you want:
yourmod_starbase_influence_mult_300x = {country_starbase_influence_cost_mult = 3}
