Problematic Expression
Julia
It’s so damn hard to lay you on paper, Julia
I’m not fully aware of how deep you are, Julia
It’s truly a shame the way everything went, Julia
cause peculiarly Julia I’m not full of you yet
No, not just quite yet
Sydney
Given time I think I’d find
a way to tell you clearly
But even then, we would pretend
that we both spoke sincerely
If I could find a way to say
The thoughts within me, Sydney
Then maybe signs could shine a light
On how to get you near me
Nope
Taylor
Taylor won’t you talk to me
Softly through your teeth?
Tell me all about your day
Talk me into sleep
Lull me in with lovely lies
Languish me with blue
Lonely words will light my night
In teal and lilac hues
I try to talk but stutter, trip on the tongue, loose mobility in my usually loose lips, searching for rounded words to reach you, Taylor.
Fuck this.
Scattered Thoughts of You
I heard you humming
A song yesterday
I don’t know what it was;
But it’s my favorite now
And my mind plays it on repeat
How do I get you out of my head
And onto this page?
Why can't I take the you inside me
And make you of ink and paper?
How many names will I have to give you?
How many times will I have to rhyme?
I sit and stare at a blank page
Write, erase, write, edit, erase
None of it is good enough
None of it feels like you
No matter what words I use
It doesn’t feel like you
Is it possible I can't construct you out of simile and metaphor?
But isn’t that all language is?
And then what is this?
Then what are you? And what am I?

Are these separate poems? At first I thought I was reading it as a script, with each person speaking. But eventually I realised maybe it's all separate? Or s theme running through them all?
Really enjoyed the flow of Sydney. The beats of the sentence move nicely along at a great pace.
And Julia was very enjoyable. Felt like something being sung from a musical. Lots of emotion, and ''peculiarly Julia'' works very well to break up the rythym and pace of the earlier sentences.
