Chapter Nine (PoV: Darkstalker trapped inside Peacemaker's mind, 5014 AS)

Darkstalker cycled between apprehension, fear, and concern for both Peacemaker and himself. He strongly suspected that Peacemaker was the hybrid he saw in the dream, and Darkstalker's presence was already affecting his sanity, as the spell responsible for his very existence was no longer entrapping Darkstalker, and the effects might not be reversible.

There are a lot more than five of them now.
Several dozen dragons of various tribes broke their formation in the air. Peacemaker shrunk back further into the shadow.
Darkstalker sensed something he hadn't realized was missing since being able to communicate with Peacemaker. The smoke. The black smoke that was his reality less than a day ago.
It won't matter. The smoke emerged from between Peacemaker's scales, seeping out in impossibly large quantities.
Are you doing that?
Yes. Apparently there is an upside to being trapped inside your mind for so long. Darkstalker felt safer. Stronger. His thoughts had a clarity they lacked since Foeslayer was kidnapped. Having any sense of direct control, any physical existence, even if it was only smoke, helped him control his emotions as well.
I've been doing it wrong. Not feeling things simply makes them worse.
That really seems like it should be in some boring and unoriginal scroll for two-month-old dragonets.
Did i actually say that out loud?
Well, technically no, but also kind of yes?
Never speak of this again.

Peacemaker stepped into the sunlight, and the smoke billowed around him.
