I’m a teacher. I’m sad, but I’m not surprised. 😔
Same :(
I wrote a simple math problem generator to build worksheets and answer keys for my kid. If you think it would help folks please share the link. It should cover just about everything up to pre-algebra.
Math-aids.com is super helpful too

Ur mama has math AIDS jokebot
Sucks for all the seniors
Yeah I thought I had it bad with my senior year getting crashed with the Red for Ed strike. I understand fully why they did so, and I supported them but damn my last few APs I was basically on my own as far as review and prep the last few weeks leading up to them.

Lol getting downvoted by all the parents who let their kids run wild around the neighborhood screaming because they don't want to parent.
I am not downvoting you but kids need to be able to roam free and grow outside of parental or adult supervision. This is what humans have done for millennia until very recently. I think it's nice seeing kids being kids without interference or helicopter moms buzzing about! It gives me hope for this youngest generation.

And this is why you're so fun today
Yes you did.
Maybe you're getting downvoted for your rather sad and bitchy comment?
because they don't want to parent.
Are you a parent? Probably not.

How do I mute someone forever on reddit
A week before schools were shuttered, the school board said that they did not anticipate that schools would close, which gave parents no time to prepare for this.
If you have been paying attention to the rest of the United States you would have known to prepare. People are not listening to warnings until it's to late. It's time to more past "it won't happen to us" and start making some big moves.
Criticism was on the local gov for not being transparent on the risk. And it’s true. We had Ducey actively saying we aren’t anticipating extended closures or isolations. Both are coming
Agreed. I prepared in January. I was supposed to go to China in Jan and promptly canceled my trip and started paying attention.
Back in Feb, I was telling anyone I could that what was happening in China was going to happen in the USA. I’m just one person without any resources and it was pretty easy to predict. (I will admit I’m a scientist with a higher degree). If one person with no resources other than Google Scholar and the internet could figure this out, seems like the local and federal governments should have known and done their job to prepare the less informed.

Agreed!
Just moved here for a teaching job that starts in the coming school year. Was going to sub in the meantime, but looks like that won’t be happening now. I knew this was bound to happen, so it’s not too big a shock.
Will probably get a grocery store job to pay the bills and isolate myself as much as possible for the next couple months.
I’m looking forward to getting to know the city when this passes and meeting all of you great people. The people I have talked to have been very nice.
Stay safe everybody.
A grocery store job is the opposite of isolating yourself
I know that.
Should have worded that more clearly.
I’m going to basically work at a grocery store and come into contact with hundreds of people every day.
But when I get home, there’s no one waiting for me since I live alone. I only have 2 people that I know down here, since I moved across country.
If I get sick, I aim to not infect anyone else. Whatever happens, I’m going to try to minimize my contact with people outside of my work. I guess my general idea is that if grocery store’s need workers, I’m one of the few who does not need to worry as much about spreading it outside of the workplace.
As someone who works at a grocery store I can confirm. Grocery stores and hospitals are the most populated places right now. You'd definitely be putting yourself more at risk of getting it.
I would be pumped as a student haha
It’s not canceled canceled, just moved online
Ah you are right thanks
How come this never happened when we were in school. When I got sick, it was Sprite and chicky noods.
Do you really wish a global pandemic was happening during your childhood? Does this really seem like an appropriate time to exhibit jealousy?

I have two teenagers, they are not pumped. Social interaction with peers is everything at their age and they have none of it now.
We're doing remote learning. A bit tougher since students who are conditioned with the structure of school now need to do work at home.
My students are devistated!
Don’t be surprised if they stay closed for another year.
I know my kids (kindergartners) - no matter how much coaching I give them their fingers will end up in mouths, eyes, and noses.
New normal until proven vaccine effectiveness and safety will be testing, treatments, and antibody testing.
I am scared about this possibility, but I wouldn’t be surprised
Good. Children first.
