It’s really wild that so many of these crypt keeper dudes are so flippant about this. They’re like:
Yet they are still beloved. What do these guys need to do to prove to their supporters that they don’t give an F about them, and for people to finally turn away from them? Hell, the demon plane dude was threatening people to continue tithing to him. Wtf!
I was in college during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic. Even though the pandemic was tapering off by the time school started, there was a vaccine (and my college ran huge free vaccine clinics), we knew that Tamiflu (an antiviral that mitigates flu symptoms) helped, and we knew it was way less deadly and (I think) less infectious my college took way more precautions than Liberty did
Wow imagine that.
The governor of Virginia just issued an executive stay at home order and specifically stated that “all institutions of higher education will cease holding in-person classes”. Checkmate.
Will he listen though??
If Northam was an actual leader, he would send the national guard to Liberty
Supposedly violating the 10 person rule will be a crime so we’ll see.
It's a misdemeanor. I'm in VA.
Not really a checkmate. Liberty wasn't/hasn't been having in person classes since the return from spring break. They were online only, but the kids were in their dorms and the professors were in their offices (and told to hold normal office hours).
In theory, nothing Liberty has done has violated any orders before or now. In practice, a dorm full of college kids, as much as it may resemble an apartment building, is a haven for a virus. Though, I rode out H1N1 while living in a dorm and made it out without even a sniffle.
Unfortunately, it's too late to send these kids home where they can infect their families. In that single instance, Liberty has done the right thing: these kids were dumb enough to spring break, they need to ride out the virus in quarantine so they don't infect anyone else.
They were still socializing though. An article someone posted last week described how som Liberty students were sitting at a table discussing their spring break tans!!!
People all over the state have been socializing. Our governor sucks. What he did today makes things no better than they were yesterday. He’s a coward. No universities were holding in person classes and most of the students that were back at Liberty were international or students that didn’t have a home to go back to. I can’t believe I’m defending Liberty rn, but there’s a lot of misinformation out about it.
The news article I read indicated that the classes were online (and people were having to adjust). One girl had to come to campus to use a sewing machine. There were signs on tables talking about social distancing, but kids weren’t. People in off campus apartments were still holding get to togethers. I guess this is more of a “stupid college person” problem as opposed to a Liberty problem.
Yeah no one is staying home, no one is social distancing. I don't know if it's just in Virginia Beach but I feel like if I didn't have the internet I wouldn't know anything was wrong here. Aside from the toilet paper shortage. A lot of my coworkers were talking about us being on lockdown but it's not that serious. He basically said "I'm serious, it's a good idea if you don't go out more than necessary. I mean it."
Yeah and side note that shit took FOREVER. I live in DC so I get both MD and VA alerts (we got the SAH last smh), MD governor has been taking appropriate measures and taking this seriously while the VA governed minimized everything and randomly issued this immediate SAH today. He’s been so blasé about this entire situation even when he spoke today. Ugh. Anyway even if they do close I’m worried about students getting their money back. It appears they’re doing everything to prevent that.
