Quick question about Settlers III History Edition

As I just found out that there is a history edition now of Settlers III. I have a few questions if I should buy to replace the Gold version I play at this moment.

  1. Do the Captain,Level 3, Best Egyptian archers still bug out when attacking from the bottom right like they do in the Gold Edition?

  2. Do the amazons still sometimes heap up around the Large Guard Towers? Sometimes they would all get stuck there? Btw is it a bug 3 soldiers can attack it at the same time?

  3. Any AI changes to make them more smart?

Added a link to download a map where you can test 1 & 2:

Update 2: Egyptian Bug is no longer present!

The rest I can test slowly :-) Thanks once more!

Here's my experience as someone with probably a thousand or more hours in the original and ten or so games in the History Edition of S3 (just don't have the time to play S3 much anymore)

  1. They either fixed Egyptian bowmen or it's better than before. Level 3 bowmen seemed much better in the History Edition for Egypt. I didn't do a test though, so I could have just been really lucky.

  2. I don't think they changed Amazon LGT/Castles to only let two soldiers attack. I've always wondered if that was an odd design decision? Can't comment on the getting stuck problem, as I don't remember it in the original game any more than settlers getting stuck on other things like terrain.

  3. If they improved the AI, it's not a substantial improvement, sadly. The AI behaves much like I remember from the original game. They definitely didn't fix the most annoying "bug" where the AI responds to your attacks with a forced move command, meaning their soldiers don't fight back unless they get to the tower you're attacking.

The History Edition is a solid package, though it didn't completely blow be away. I figure if nothing else, the History Edition might be easier to run in 5 to 10 years than the original game.

Alright thanks for the input!

Yeah the 3 soldiers attacking their LGT/Castles always struck me as odd. If they had like more garrison or the stones dropping like in Settlers 4 it would be a acceptable drawback for increased attacking power.

But good to know with my biggest problem(1) fixed I might give it a go to have working Egyptian Archers again :-)

Yes the Egyptian archer bug was fixed.

If you head to https://www.thesettlers-alliance.com/ and got to news and search for history edition or changelog ( https://www.thesettlers-alliance.com/en/?s=changelog ) you can read / find some details.
