Name List Not Appearing

I've created a mod for name lists through the client. I've copied another name list and simply replaced names. I've added a localisation file. The name list isn't even appearing in the list, so I can't even check if it works.

What would cause the list to not even show up? Even though I've toggled the mod on in the client, I'm wondering if it's not finding the files. I'm playing through Steam, so I thought maybe I needed to put my files in a Steam folder. I'm not sure where though.

Any potential troubleshooting suggestions would be helpful.

Directory structure is crucial.

  • Check that your files are in the location you setup when you created the mod in the mod tool (\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod\MYMODNAME).
  • Be sure your name file is in \common\name_lists subdirectory.
  • I haven't tried this, but check that you didn't copy a name list with something like "selectable=no", I assume this would be bad.

If you have the file in the right place, but don't have a localisation file setup, you will still see your name list, it will just show up as "name_list_WHATEVERYOUCALLEDIT".

It was definitely my directory structure that was the problem. It shows up now.

One other question, how do you organize the name list in the species building menu? My name list shows up at the bottom. I'd like to have it be alphabetical.
