We had our first OSDF meet in DC! This is how it went.
Earlier today, we had our first meetup for the DC chapter of OSDF.
Initially, geneusutwurk and I were worried about the level of response from the RPAC and Washington, DC subreddits, and thought we might have an under-attended meeting.
Fortunately, that wasn't the case at all:
From the dozen or so people that came, we had some really great discussion on what our goals for the chapter are, and how we can start working toward them.
What are those goals?
- More members
- Get attention/stimulate awareness of the issue locally
- Write about NN and find local publications to work with
- Start finding a way to work with small businesses in the area
- Play laser tag
And the s'mores were delicious, thanks to geneusutwurk's s'more cooker, which is definitely not a fondue burner.
We will be having another meet in two weeks probably, and we might be playing laser tag. If you're interested, come! If you know somebody who would be, let them know about us. Maybe we can get a group discount (and let a laser tag place know how NN affects them).
