Why does he say he’s in love? Hasn’t it been shown that Rose has already moved on to someone else (or was that fake)? Is Big Ed legally obliged to keep up the facade that he and Rose are still together?

Cool dude? He's disgusting lecher who can only get a woman by going to a third-world nation and buying her. If she weren't so poverty-stricken and looking to be on the verge of starvation, as well as living in a culture that minimizes the value of women, she wouldn't go near him with a 100 foot pole. All she has to bargain with is her body. It's the only tool she has in order to get a better life for her and her son, and she's apparently willing to put up with just about anything in order to do that. So sad.

Ok what's your solution then? You sound so upset about Rose's situation- well what should she do? Listen, it's her body, her situation, she's an adult. She can stay in that poverty stricken area of the world, or try to move away by the only way she can do so.

Exactly! There is no solution. In her culture it's not uncommon for women to do this, and with corrupt governments there's very little money to trickle down and improve a person's living situation. Your description of her two choices is absolutely correct.

I know, I posted this and am getting down voted. They both are the ones talking to each other for months on end they obviously liked each other, it's difficult to find love for a lot of people. Look at Ed he's a little weird dude with a health condition, he found a woman that pays attention to him and she found someone who can get her and her son out of some dire conditions. People praise all sorts of amoral shit, but if an older man finds a young woman, watch out the mob will attack.

Exactly . Honestly, there are plenty of abusive American men that she could have ended up with . If the only thing wrong with Ed is that he’s so ugly that he cannot find an American woman his own age and uses his money to help him have a companion so be it . Works out well for the both of them .
