Nobody told me it’d be LOCKED

Hi fellow Gungeoners. I’ve got ~240 hours played on this game but this is the very first time I’ve turned it off out of total frustration. It’s completely my fault. This is my tale:
End of floor one playing Paradox I’ve got 3 keys with 3 chests to open. A red and a blue from normal chest rooms and another blue from a secret room. I usually save chests to open at the end of the floor to guarantee the boss gives me a gun, this time was no different. Out of the red chest I pull the Predator. Nice. I open the blue chest from the secret room next, it’s the Book of Chest Anatomy. OK, not great. Then I pull Junkan out of the other blue chest. Hell yes, run is looking pretty good now. Wish I’d pulled Junkan first and junked the second blue but whatever.
Second floor, run into the Gunsling King who wants me to do a challenge room. Game on. Walk in, immediately see a keybullet kin take off into the middle of a crowd of 5 normal bullet kin. Planning on junking a lot of chests for Junkan anyway, don’t go for the keybullet. Finish the room, Manservantes gives me the RC Bullets. Worse than useless for a console player like me.
Next room is the shop, 2 keys for sale and Sell Creep in the corner. OK, give the RC Bullets to the Sell Creep and buy the Ballot from the shop in hopes of getting chest spawns to junk. Very next room after the shop I get a blue chest spawn. Nice. Immediately junk it and get a blank. Fuck, I forgot I had the Book of Chest Anatomy. Give it to the Sell Creep.
Continue clearing the floor, determined to junk any chests worse than green. Wind up finding both chest rooms have green chests. Do I junk them anyway or see what’s inside? It’s a stroke of good luck to find 2 chests of this quality on floor two. I buy the keys from the shop and decide to open them both immediately, going completely against my normal style of leaving them until after the boss. Out of them I pull the Cat Bullet King Throne and Void Core Assault Rifle. Right after pulling the rifle I shoot the wall next to the open chest and it cracks. Fire off a blank and this HUGE room opens up.
I’ve never found the High Dragunfire before. This is AMAZING. Float on in in complete awe. Can’t believe my incredible luck. Read the cultist’s spiel and go for the chest. IT’S LOCKED. OH FUCK, I’ve already used both keys on this floor. I’ve done every other room except for the boss. I pray I get a key after the fight. Nope, 2 heart pieces. I return to the cultists and junk the chest with the High Dragunfire inside, hoping maybe Dodge Roll is kind and would make the gun pop out anyway. I stare at the piece of heart looking back at me from the chests’ crumbled remains and exit the game.
I realized after there was a chance I could have found a second secret room on the floor with a key in it, but I think the chances of that were slim. There were plenty of opportunities for me to wind up with an extra key by deciding to junk one of the chests instead of opening them, or by getting the keybullet kin, or by just following my usual and waiting until doing the boss and checking for secret rooms before opening chests. Ultimately I wound up totally blowing it. So frustrating.

Tl;dr: Junkan run, should have junked chests, opened them instead and didn’t have a key to open the High Dragunfire for the first time.

Oof... I feel your pain. I found it once, 800 hours ago.
Ouch, now it hurts even more.
I mean... I always do all >!ten!< floors but am an expert and very neurotic about finding secret rooms... so I don’t see C2 as frequently as most, I guess...
There’s a dirty trick on the Switch where holding the Power button until shutdown and booting back up always saves and resets a floor. On the rare occasion that I have the Blueprint from C1/1.5, I’ll scum C2 20-30 times (because Maps reveal secrets) trying to get it again, and so far it hasn’t been fruitful...
...but Kaliber and the RNG gods will smile upon you someday! Literally anything can happen in this game—I’ve had Demon Faces three floors in a row before, a Synergy and Rainbow on the same map, three Keybullet Kin at once... odds are crazy, but you’ll hit hit HD eventually!
