Any Tips on Mastering FW 190 A-8?

RB Air

So, what's the strategy for this thing? I can't climb as fast as other planes and the turning sucks so I can't BnZ on the fighters below me. Is it just a glorified bomber hunter?

It's not a competitive plane is all I can say. Even with the airspawn it cannot climb against other fighters, because it's a 190A it does not turn at all, only good thing is the roll rate which is only useful in defensive scissoring. As much guns you can put on a plane, if it can't maneuver fast enough to get guns on target it is a piece of shit.

Just skip it.

Well, I'm one mod away from spading it so I think I'll just grind my teeth through the last of it. Thanks though.

It is a great plane in its window. That means boom and zoom and reversals. At the beggining of the match climb to the side at around 290kph - that's the most effective climb speed. In downtiers you will be usually above enemy, so go BnZ, as that is what is does best.

In uptiers, where enemies usually reach same alt as you do by the time you meet, play as a support plane. By this I mean do not engage on the first line, but try to take off enemies that engage friendlies. For this use stealth ammo, it is very effective and you should be used to this gun so far.

You will be surprised how many guys don't look behind (or above them), and when you hit them with stealth they are dead - they are not alerted by tracer if you miss. Also quite large amount of players wait for you to start shooting till they dodge, and you can surprise them.

It also has great defensive potential. Go into shallow dive to pick up speed, deploy flaps, and do some cancer rolls. Nothing can catch you. And then follow the guy that attacked you - he has to dodge your reversal (another reason to use stealth, reversals make half of my kills), and than he looses speed, more than you.

Headons are worth trying (especially with stealth), pop a couple bullets and drop of by 1.2km. If enemy evades first, go for deflection shots - usually works against planes with bad roll, such as spitfire. Even if you get hit, the pilot is well protected and engine is radial, so can also take a punch.

Concluding, keep your speed up, take stealth ammo and you will do fine.

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you very much.

I don’t fly the A-8, but the N.C.900 is the same thing just on the allied side.

Really the best way to play is to be a support fighter. You’re not gonna be on the front lines, leave that to the 109. Come in and mop up distracted fighters. If a teammate is outnumbered in a 2v1, that’s the perfect opportunity.

With the N.C.900 it’s a legitimate tactic to turnfight, because with the flaps down it will outturn a 109. I can’t think of any allied fighters that it can outturn, maybe some heavy fighters like the Hornet or F-82.

But fly it like you’re only there for backup. If you want a 190 that can compete with allied fighters and fight like a 109 you’re gonna have to fly the Fw109 A-5U/2. With only two MG151/20s it has more than enough killing power without the weight of redundant guns, or useless ones in the case of the 7.92s. I’ve kept up with a Spitfire in a turnfight with the U/2, you’re not gonna do that in the A-8.

Best of luck, hope this helps.

I have k/d of 5, in it(I'm an average player but my play style suits it and I know k/d doesn't show anything and my results are not that good) sure climb away from enemy and wait until both teams start engaging than dive on them and pick them one by one . Don't try catching anything in a straight line either play it like a light heavy fighter
