Legend Ranking System

Competitive

Hi all, as someone who has just reached legend for the first time this season, I have a few questions about the legend ranking system. For starters, I came into legend around rank 2800. After that, for every loss I lost about 200 ranks, and for every win I won back around 80. Thus, for me to climb past rank 2800, I would need around a 70% winrate (win 5 out of every 7 games) to maintain my current rank, which frankly I was nowhere near. Is this a normal thing to experience? Does the rank at which you start at once you reach legend greatly affect your legend climb?

In my experience yeah.

Sounds weird to say but getting legend in the 8th day of the season is surprisgnly late to get a good starting rank, unless you had an amazing winrate to legend. That's because getting legend is a lot easier this season than any season before so a lot of people already made it to legend (more than 4000 in EU at least).

In the march season I was able to finish in a good rank (300 something) and got the 11 star multiplier. I was able to maintain high legend because I got legend early in that season and got a good winstreak and winrate.

So yeah climbing from dumpster legend is hard.

Thanks for the insight. I'll see what I can do about it, but I'm probably gonna stay dumpster legend for the rest of the season lol

It's just coincidence.

Legend rank is based on your MMR - if you're losing more for a loss than you're gaining for a win, that indicates you've happened to have run into opponents with lower MMRs than you. Bit unlucky to do it so frequently when you first hit legend, but sooner or later you'll get matched against players with better MMR than you and you'll get more ranks for a win than you'll lose for a loss.
