Deaf 2 year old wont stop barking. Especially when excited and playful. Often happens after walks, it's my mother's dog and she is certainly not going to train him, so I'd thought I'd try during this lockdown. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Stay safe

Hey. Professional with two deaf and blind dogs here. I get your frustration - deaf dog barking is LOUD.

Deaf dogs rock has a great resource on barking.

Another thing you'll find helpful is relaxation protocol.

What I typically do when we get into a fit of frustration or overstimulation is offer hand targets (touch nose to hand cue by offering your hand down, this is super easy) to get some movement, then ask for a down and immediately start a relaxation protocol exercise. Part of this is redirecting into a different behavior, but if you are consistently responding to overstimulation responses by immediately sending them into relaxation protocol, you can condition the dog to make better choices when they are feeling jazzed up.

Deaf dogs rock has resources on teaching visual and touch markers through hand signals if you don't already have one established. Marker training is a must for impaired dogs.
