Entsy Mission Values

Entsy is focused on the functional artistry of glass blown art. It is dedicated to the greater Ent community for discussion of new ideas, requests, and overall appreciation for aesthetic craftsmanship.

As a liason between r/trees and ex-etsy sellers, this sub-reddit is designed to help functional glass blowing artisans maintain contact with their customer base. We can only allow independent functional glass blowers list themselves in order to eliminate wholesalers and “everyone else.” This is to prevent postings to deter us from our initial mission, values, and goals, and to maintain a professional environment.

As of now, sellers are listing their work on artfire.com, and so far this is the best alternative to etsy.com. The idea is for artists to give us the site link to their art work; be it imgur, artfire, myspace, etc. Then we add you to the list on Entsy Artist. From there, we simply help thread people to your pieces and voilá! Ents would be able to directly message you and go to your personal page. However, we do not have the power to help you with transactions. r/entsy is a temporary solution to help sellers during their movement, but it allows for direct interaction between buyer and seller within this Ent community.

Rules for posting on the mainboard

The only posts that are allowed in r/entsy are requests, ideas, and showcase:

• If you have an open request for any glass blower, then start your link as “REQ: a pokeball spoon with alien head coming out.” This serves three purposes:

1. full discussion for individual REQ

2. allow artists to take on new challenges

3. allows us to separate individual REQ instead of having one massive thread where posts will get lost

If contact is made, then please edit your description saying “Edit: REQ taken by xxxxx” and let the moderators know so we may archive this :-)

• If you have just a random idea for a cool piece, then go ahead and submit your idea. Make sure the title to your post is along the lines of “what do you think of a pineapple Ent bong?” and discussion will just happen. Only ideas to glass pieces, or functional pieces in general (must be cool idea). This is meant to keep spam posts from making r/entsy into r/trees V.2.

• If you have a unique piece that was made by a local artist, or purchased a piece from an Entsy artist, then show us your glass (sug)! Non wholesale, glass piece only! Please start posts with “sug: my rasta frog”
