Charging XPS 15 with standard charger and USB-C Hub simultaneously
Hello
I have a DELL XPS 15 9560
I recently got an HP USB-C Hub as gift. I tried to use it with my laptop alone, but I got a message saying the laptop was only receiving 60 W of energy through the HP Hub instead of the 130 W it requires.
I was wondering if it is safe to connect both the standard DELL charger and the HP USB-C Hub at the same time.
Thank you

The laptop will take power from one charger, and ignore the other. It should select the charger that provides the most power. (edit: actually since it's presumably barrel + USB-C, it may just take power from the barrel plug aka primary input regardless of which charger provides more).
Either way, it's safe to connect both at once.
Thanks for the info!
Dell support never gave me a clear answer and were more interested in selling me a Dell Hub.
HI!
I was just going through the conversation and I wanted to inform you that we do not recommend you having both the charger and the hub connected at the same time. You can use the hub or the dock to charger the system or use an adapter.

Hi thank you for revisiting this issue.
Is there any particular reason for this?
Another user here stated that it would be fine and I also just learned that my brother has been doing something similar with his XPS 15 using the official DELL Hub + USB-C monitor (that had a 60W output also).
Thanks again
Could you tell me the model number of the HP hub you are using?

Sorry, we were not of much help.
